"Without the vital support from of The Civic’s CARP Programme... these invaluable and exciting opportunities wouldn’t have come to life."
Each year The Civic, Barnsley open their doors to Northern artists from any discipline at any stage in their career to take part in their Civic Artist Residency Programme - CARP. The programme offers artists and companies up to four weeks of space and a budget of up to £1250, to create and develop work in a supportive and relaxed environment in which ideas can be tried and tested.
CARP 2015 Artist Hayley Youell, speaks about her time at The Civic:
“At the half-way point through my artistic residency at The Civic, I am feeling recharged and inspired. After several months of research and practice at The Civic, I now have a busy few months ahead starting to bring together all my ideas and collaborators to explore the development of a new piece of immersive theatre.
With support from The Civic I have also made new links and reconnected with other artists, leading to my recent professional involvement and tour with the 154 Collective production, Under The Bed.
Without the vital support from of The Civic’s CARP Programme, Sarah Shead (Spin Arts) and funding from Arts Council England, these invaluable and exciting opportunities wouldn’t have come to life.”
