Shawlands Primary School Sail Away With Exhibition At The Civic
This Autumn, all of the children at Shawlands Primary School have taken part in a school-wide topic titled, ‘Sail Away with your imagination’ and that is exactly what we did. The whole school let their imaginations go wild, taking inspiration from history, art and literature.
Foundation Stage explored dinosaurs and Key Stage One took inspiration from Peter Pan.
Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a well of inspiration for Lower Key Stage Two, while Upper Key Stage Two’s vision was stirred by the Solar System
The Land Art of Andy Goldsworthy helped the children get creative using their natural environment in their designs.
Teacher Lisa Tabbner explains, “all of the children at Shawlands School have experienced new ways to express themselves with different media for the first time, including paint, IT, pastels, leaves, collage etc. They really have sailed away with their imaginations and we hope their art will help you sail away with your too!”
Curator Jason White said, “it has been an absolute joy selecting the artwork to display here and I wish we had room for more. The children of Shawlands School are incredibly talented and have a real gift when it comes to creating their own artwork – each one full of original ideas and character.”
The artwork of Shawlands School is on display on the staircase at The Civic from 3rd December to 28th January.
