Nick Sharratt Exhibition Success
Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants: The Illustrated World of Nick Sharratt opened at The Civic on Saturday 27 June.
Families from far and wide flocked to Barnsley to meet Nick Sharratt and have their favourite books signed by the award winning children’s book writer and illustrator.
Nick Sharratt, the man behind the instantly recognisable illustrations for Jacqueline Wilson’s Tracy Beaker books, interacted and explored the exhibition with visitors all day. Visitors expressed their delight on social media, “The best children's exhibition I think I've ever been to. Fantastically produced”, Lucy Want.
Year 3 pupils from Brierley Primary School visited the exhibition launch event with their families to view their specially created poster designs, following their backstage tour of the multi-purpose arts venue back in April.
Helen Ball, Chief Executive at The Civic was thrilled with the outcome of the day: “It was brilliant to see so many happy faces come through our doors for the launch event. Nick Sharratt was an excellent ambassador and helped us provide a great experience for all the excited children and families. We look forward to welcoming many more people to the family friendly exhibition and our creative workshops this summer.”
Visitors will be able to visit the colourful and playful Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants exhibition at The Civic until Saturday 22 August.
All exhibitions are FREE admission.
