New Affordable Art Fair Showcases work of local interest in Barnsley
A new independent print fair for South Yorkshire will launch this July at The Civic. ‘Freshly Pressed’ will be an excellent opportunity to own affordable fine art prints, textiles and self-published books and zines, by the best of regional artists and designers.
The Civic are delighted to announce the impending arrival of Freshly Pressed, a new print fair with a whole host of additional entertainment to keep the family busy on Saturday 15 July in South Yorkshire. The fair is the latest addition in the region’s calendar of markets for artists, artisans and lovers of all things hand-crafted.
The Civic’s Freshly Pressed will feature a cacophony of stalls selling contemporary art, illustration and photographic prints, printed textiles and homewares as well as the best of local published books and zines from Barnsley and around the region.
Exhibitors include many local artists featuring artwork inspired by our beloved region. Customers will be able to pick up unique and personal work for their homes. With subjects ranging from local landmarks and natural wonders to abstract forms, musical icons and the adorable animals who live among us.
The fair which will have free admission will also offer entertainment in the form of live music, spoken word and poetry, printing demonstrations and children’s activities. Live entertainment includes members of the Barnsley Alternative Rock band Aztec Doll playing an exclusive acoustic set, three-piece band The Delicateers and poet Jethro Platts.
The print fair is organised by Jason White, The Civic’s Assistant Curator. Support comes from two partners: Barnsley Museums’ literacy and poetry initiative Hear My Voice and also Barnsley College. Both will be showcasing their work on the day.

The ‘Freshly Pressed’ Print Fair takes place at The Civic on Sat 15 July 2017, between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free.
