Get your toes ready to tap along to a musical weekend with sounds for all ages to enjoy in Barnsley.
Little babies and grandparents alike will be delighted by the sweet sounds at The Civic, Barnsley this weekend, as the venue hosts a selection of music themed events.
Get into the swing of things on Friday and take a nostalgic trip to the 60s with Twist and Shout. They’ll be dancing in the aisles as an all-star West End cast play the music of The Beatles, Herman’s Hermits, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Rolling Stones, Cilla Black, Manfred Mann, Dusty Springfield, Lulu, Sandy Shaw and many more. There are limited tickets left for this show, so book now to join the dancing.
For families on Saturday, Civic on Tour and Full House Theatre will be taking their latest family performance to St Johns Church Hall, Greenside. From the company that brought you Owl and the Pussycat and By The Light of the Moon last year, Full of Beans is set to original music and songs with an added sprinkling of magic that will have children and grown-ups alike charmed and enthralled. This pay what you decide show is a fairy tale adventure with a difference, that asks “what do magic beans become?”

The Lindisfarne Story on Saturday evening will celebrate one of the UK’s most original and successful groups. Billy Mitchell and Ray Laidlaw travel through the Geordie group’s history from the 1960’s to the present day via their classic songs, rare video, audio and photographs. The Lindisfarne Story isn’t just for fans of Lindisfarne. If you love UK rock groups and music of the 60s and 70s this show is for you.
The weekend finishes with a day of shows especially designed for babies. Over The Moon: Opera for Babies is a calm, playful and creative first opera experience for babies and toddlers. The show weaves together gentle classical music with familiar nursery rhymes and games. With three showings throughout the day, and tickets just £5 this interactive musical adventure is an excellent opportunity to start children on their creative journey.

As if that wasn’t enough they’ll be more music throughout the season, with Ensemble 360 making more appearances, a live gig telling the story of the 60s folk legend Anne Briggs, Sing-a-Long-a The Greatest Showman, Show of Hands and the upcoming return of Barnsley’s own Hannah Peel.
