Jack Frost, a Newly Commissioned Christmas Show at The Civic is a great success
A newly commissioned Christmas show featuring a community cast is delighting Barnsley audiences.
Fidget Theatre in association with LittleMighty opened their brand new production Jack Frost on Friday 14 December in Barnsley. The show, which was commissioned by The Civic is a joyful, frost filled, festive adventure for families.
“An absolutely delightful piece of theatre… you are completely captivated by the mythical Jack Frost from the moment he appears in stage.” Where Can I Take The Kids Today?
This enchanting show for families has been delighting hundreds of little ones from schools across the district, and leaving adults with a tear in their eyes. With some performances playing to a sold out audience the show will continues its run for the public up until the last showing on Christmas Eve.
“My 4 year old loved it. Thanks guys. Good luck with the rest of the run.” Sam Nixon
The story follows the friendship of a slightly naughty but well-meaning little girl, Holly and the magical but lonely winter sprite, Jack Frost. After bonding over their shared love of music the pair set out to cause some mischief. When everything goes wrong, can they claim the magic back through the power of music and coming together?
Each performance of Jack Frost features a community cast recruited from the local area, following a call out earlier in the year. This cast includes a group from Barnsley College who lend their voices and instruments to play live alongside the professional team.
The show also boasts the voice of Ian McMillan as Grandad and includes a specially written song You Can Come in From the Cold by Ed Heaton and James Hamilton
In the spirit of coming together, this fantastic community cast, voice actors and – during the grand finale - even the audience join the three phenomenal professional actors in this seasonal treat that’s full of music, dancing and plenty of audience participation.
“I defy anyone not to have a tear in their eye as younger members of the audience are invited on stage to help Jack Frost regain his magical powers and leave the land with a much needed scattering of white sparkly snow… you really can’t fail to walk away feeling as though you have been showered in a large sprinkling of fairy dust.” Where Can I Take The Kids Today?
This heartwarming play carries the most important message of Christmas: a wonderful reminder of the importance of love, friendship and looking after each other. With that, Fidget Theatre make sure no-one is left outside this Christmas. As the theme song goes:
If you open up your heart,
Let love warm your soul,
You can come in from the cold
Limited tickets for this wholesome festive treat are still available to book online, via phone or in person.
