From Camelot to Barnsley, the Tale of King Arthur comes to The Civic.

THE AWARD-WINNING Story Pocket Theatre presents Michael Morpurgo’s epic tale of magic and heroism as King Arthur takes to the stage at The Civic, Barnsley on Wednesday 18 October.

“Spending an hour with Story Pocket Theatre is like curling up in a warm bed, and being read a story while you nibble on a piece of toast…Well-loved, well-delivered and very well received stories.” The Scotsman

From Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse, comes a magical tale in Barnsley this season. See spectacular sword fights, a classic battle between good and evil, a moving, yet tragic, love story and super storytelling come together to create a memorable family show. The well-loved stories of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, Sir Lancelot, the Lady of the Lake and the sword Excalibur come to life in this exciting adaptation of the best-selling novel.

When a boy becomes stranded at sea, he is rescued by a mysterious old man who claims to be none other than the great King Arthur Pendragon! Through the old king’s magical storytelling, the boy and the audience are transported back to the heady days of Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin and his faithful hound, Bercelet, the Lady of the Lake and the sword in the stone.

Legendary adventures of brave chivalry and battles are all part of this exciting new family theatre production. The show comes to Barnsley after a hugely successful premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it won rave reviews from critics and audiences.

“A new standard for kids’ entertainment. It’s current, funny and deliriously energetic.” Broadway Baby

Imaginative physical theatre, charming puppetry and outstanding storytelling combine to create this Arthurian legend, which is most suitable for brave knights aged 7 years plus and their families.
