FREE Learning & Participation Day at The Civic

Constella OperaBallet are bringing their latest workshop to Barnsley this May. They are looking for 60 local young dancers, musicians and actors/writers.

Miners from Kent have been working since July last year with a consortium of professionals to create a new project: The Canary Boys. The project will offer a unique opportunity to tell the mining story through music, dance and film.

The content for the storytelling will be created through workshops with young people from ex-mining communities, which will provide meaningful professional development opportunities for young people aged 8-16 from Barnsley to explore their heritage through the performing arts.

The Barnsley workshop will take place at The Civic on 29 May 2016, focussing on music, dance and writing. It will conclude with an early evening public showcase by participants for the local community, drawing on work completed in the day workshops.
