Free Family fun day at The Civic

Join The Civic for a day of free family friendly fun in the sun. Enjoy live entertainment: marvellous music, terrific theatre, magical mayhem, daredevil dances and amazing aerial circus performances, super singing and of course ravishing refreshments and more.

And don't worry (we know what you're thinking) if it pours we’ll go indoors.

The Garden Party will feature shows throughout the day by world class street performers Markmark, who will be performing a super spectacular with hilarious Houdini style escapes, musical mayhem and just pure silliness. Markmark are an award-winning international company who have been touring the world for over 17 years. With broad influences of physical and comic styles they are set to bring barrels of laughs!

A special performance from TurnAround Dance Theatre is sure to set the imagination souring. Experience the magic of live aerial circus, dance, humorous characters, transforming sets, beautiful songs, audience interaction and live story telling. Children (and grownups too) will love joining in the singing and dancing. TurnAround Dance Theatre, one of the Civic’s  CARP artists bring you The Thief, the Fox & the Phoenix, a free outdoor performance throughout the day in Mandala Gardens.

Follow a lonely boy and his furry fox friend, on their quest to find the enchanted Phoenix. Will they overcome jealously and temptation to save the forest and all the woodland creatures? An adventure filled with excitement and wonder that the whole family can enjoy.

There’s plenty more to entertain and delight as The Civic celebrate the launch of their new season and showcase the awesome talent of the artists they support. Bring your picnic and join the party!

The Civic Garden Party will take place on Sat 23 September at 11:00am – 3:00pm in Mandala Gardens (The Civic, Hanson Street, Barnsley, S70 2HZ)
