By the Light of the Moon, a new Family show coming to Barnsley Library
‘Pay what you feel’ professional theatre show and family activities in Barnsley this Spring
A new show for families is to be performed at Barnsley Library, with a special ‘Pay what you feel’ price and extra activities for kids to enjoy.
Who ever heard of a cat afraid of the dark, or an owl that isn’t wise?
Full House theatre, the company who brought you Elves and The Shoemaker return to Barnsley this Spring for an uplifting family story told under the light of the silvery moon. Written especially for community venues and libraries, families will be able to enjoy quality theatre in a familiar space at a price that they choose.
New show By the Light of the Moon is a beautiful story about magic and wonder, and a friendship formed in the face of difference. Performed by two actors and with original music by an award winning composer, the show has toured to sold-out community venues where audiences have said: “Delightful tale, stunning design and great actors” and “Magical performance with beautiful music and songs”.
Adding to the magic, Barnsley children will also be able to take part in a free town-wide The Owl and the Pussycat themed family treasure trail between 22nd March and 30th April. Not only that but families can meet two fishermen in their pea green boat at Barnsley Central Library during April who will be performing Edward Lear stories, as well as leading themed activities and helping families on their way with the trail. Trail maps can be collected from The Civic, Barnsley and Central Library.
By the Light of the Moon and The Owl and the Pussycat trail and activities are part of a wider project between The Civic, Barnsley, Full House Theatre and other national venues which aims to enable more school children, young people and their families to experience quality family theatre. Selected Barnsley schools will also have the opportunity to see By the Light of the Moon performed in their school halls, as well as a performance of The Owl and the Pussycat in The Civic at the end of April.
