Beautiful new circus show with juggling, geometry and classical Indian dance

Over the last few months The Civic have been bringing the big top to Barnsley town centre, with some fantastic circus shows marking 250 years since the very first circus. Following show stopping acrobatics, aerial circus storytelling, slick choreography and humour, there is now just one more circus show on the 2018 calendar.

Sigma, is Gandini Juggling’s beautiful new show exploring juggling, geometry and classical Indian dance. This show is a criss-cross of rhythmic light in which the four women blend elegant wizz-kidness with cheeky bravura.

“It looks, and is, exquisitely beautiful” The Herald

Gandini Juggling have a reputation for innovation, pushing the boundaries of their art form by combining dance and rhythm into their shows and forcing the limits of juggling in its own unique direction. The company also develop work in contemporary dance and ballet. Sigma is designed to engage in a dialogue with the viewer, rising above cultural barriers and stimulating imaginations.

To add to the stunning visuals, there will be multimedia projections complimenting the onstage action and costume design to add a depth and texture. This show is a spectacular new cross art-from production showcasing patterns and colours. It successfully weaves multi-cultural references to assault on the senses.

“Sigma is not your usual juggling show and is all the better for it” Broadway Baby

The 50-minute show, suitable for ages 9-99, Sigma premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival August 2017 where Gandini Juggling won a Herald Archangel as recognition for their work over the last 25 years.  With its dazzling display, a superb backdrop and percussion soundtrack this show will excite your imagination.

Sigma is part of a fantastic line up for half term. Starting on Sunday 28 October with Me & My Bee, a family comedy about saving the world and finishing the following Sunday 4 November with a very nearly sold out family show, The Snail and The Whale.  Throughout the week, Tuesday to Saturday, the gallery will also be open with our excellent exhibition by colour field artist, Liz West which is proving to be a hit with all ages. The creative use of light perfectly complements this fantastic show so pop along to The Civic for a visual treat.
