A Month of Laughs in Barnsley with April Fools Comedy Festival.

April Fools - Barnsley’s Comedy Festival Is Back

Once again, Barnsley plays host to some of the top comedy acts the country has to offer with April Fools Festival 2018.

April 2018 promises to be a right laugh in Barnsley and that’s no joke! It’s time for the return of April Fools Comedy Festival and The Civic couldn’t be more serious about the quality of their stand-up comedy.

April Fools Comedy Festival will see top stand-up comedians perform at venues in the town throughout April. The fun starts on Saturday 4 April with the Comedy Festival Launch at The Cooper Gallery. The rest of April is packed with laughs. Throughout the festival Barnsley will welcomes high profile acts such as star of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Phill Jupitus (tickets selling fast), John Robins and Morgan & West all appearing at The Civic.

Alongside The Civic and The Cooper Gallery; Lamproom Theatre, Jocks Cavern, Legends Bar, Annie Murray’s and Barnsley College’s Electric Theatre will also make way for up and coming comedians.

There will also be plenty of new acts on the scene include your new potty-mouthed best friend and star of Celebrity Big Brother 2017, Stephen Bailey with Can’t Think Straight. As well as being a working-class, ginger, gay, northern comic, Stephen is a friendly, open brand of gossipy humour and one of the most enjoyable acts on the UK comedy circuit today.

Other highlights include: Yorkshire New Comedian of the Year, Simon Lomas armed with dead pan delivery and exceptional one-liners; Mock the Week and 8 out of 10 Cats writer, Jessica Fostekew with her sharp storytelling wit makes for delightful company; supported by Amy Gledhill with her intelligent observations and ridiculous off-beat daftness.

Kids can also join in the fun with two dedicated children’s comedy performances, Comedy Club 4 Kids a swear-free hour with the international circuit’s best stand ups and sketch acts. Non-patronising and pure awesome. Followed later in the month by a marvellous magical comedy show, Morgan & West: More Magic for Kids! An unmissable show full of crazy capers for the young and old and everyone in-between!

The festival finale will take place at The Civic with Toby Foster’s much loved Last Laugh Comedy Club on Saturday 28 April staring 3 of the best comedians from the UK and International comedy circuit.

Don’t miss out on all the fun. Check out The Civic website to book tickets for these hilarious acts and get a guaranteed laugh this April.
