Commission opportunity:

A new performance for young audiences aged 3-7

For the 5th consecutive year ARC and The Civic are seeking to commission the creation of a new piece of work for 3-7 year olds to be presented at the venues in spring half term 2020 (w/c 17 Feb 2020)

What we can offer:

  • £3,500 commission
  • 2 weeks R&D space at ARC and/or the Civic in summer /autumn 2019 if required
  • 2 weeks development space at the Civic in January 2020
  • 1 week development space at ARC either w/c 3 or 10 February 2020
  • 1 week tech time at ARC w/c 17 February 2020
  • Premiere performances at ARC on Friday 21 & Saturday 22 February 2020, and The Civic on Sunday 23 & Monday 24 February 2020
  • 70/30 box office split on ticket sales
  • Mentorship and advocacy from Ian Morley, Head of Programming and Artist Development, The Civic and Annabel Turpin, Chief Executive & Artistic Director, ARC
  • Opportunities to invite test audiences in during the development of the work
  • Dedicated support to find receiving venues to try and create a pilot tour of the work in the region

Civic Artistic Residency Programme – CARP 19
for artists based in the North of England.

CARP is a flexible programme aiming to support artists in the process of creating work, developing and experimenting with new ideas in a nurturing and supportive arts environment

The Civic, Barnsley are seeking Northern artists from any performance and visual arts discipline, at any stage of their career. We are looking to support up to 4 artists or companies, will be offering a minimum of 2 weeks of rehearsal / residency space from April 2019 – March 2020 and have a total budget available of up to £1500 to support bursaries for the CARP programme. We are particularly keen to hear from artists from diverse backgrounds and/or those living with a disability.
