Jimmy Cauty - Riot Shields
Recommended for schools
Over the last forty years, British artist Jimmy Cauty has made a name for himself as the ultimate cultural provocateur. He has had a string of global top ten hits as a member of The KLF and burned one million pounds as a member of The K Foundation. As an artist, his work targets the establishment and has covered Iraq War, the Occupy movement and student riots.
His smiley Riot Shields are all ex-police riot gear which have been painted over with a yellow smiley face and are a symbol of ‘non-violent direct action’.
