“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house / not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse”…
This Christmas families in Barnsley are in for a real treat with a re-telling of classic story The Night Before Christmas by leading children’s theatre company Full House Theatre. This magical new show features three Santa super-fans who have come together in their headquarters at The Civic, Barnsley to catch a glimpse of the elusive Saint Nick. With original music by BAFTA-nominated Rebecca Applin, live singing and beautiful puppetry, audiences young and old will be dazzled by the trio’s festive adventures as they track Father Christmas’ movements with a range of daft and entertaining scientific experiments.
Fans of the Bedfordshire based theatre company will remember previous shows at the Civic, The Elves and the Shoemaker (2017), The Owl and the Pussycat (2018) and Jack and the Beanstalk (2019). This is the company’s first Christmas-time show in Barnsley’s historic venue, and they’re delighted:
“We are so excited to return to the Civic with such a special show for families at our favourite time of year! We have loved making this show, and we love performing at the Civic where audiences are always so warm and welcoming. We can’t wait to spread some festive cheer this December!”
Critics of previous Full House shows have said:
“Energetic and accessible, the whole thing is a little bit lovely” The Stage **** – Jack and the Beanstalk.
“It’s easy to imagine The Owl and the Pussycat finding a home on a West End stage.” Children’s Theatre Review – The Owl and the Pussycat.
“This is the sort of production that imbues a love of theatre in young minds and encourages creative thinking.” Luton News – A Christmas Carol.
