Be part of something extraordinary

Over the next four years we will refurbish our building to open up all of the asset for people to enjoy. Uncovering hidden historic features and creating an Arts Centre for the future in the heart of Barnsley.

This ambitious project will reinstate the Eldon Street entrance as our main public entrance, create brand new artistic spaces within the core so we can extend our offer and reach more people and critically connect the old historic part of the building with the current arts centre.

Spring Summer at The Civic

Welcome to a new Spring/Summer season at The Civic, and the start of a new year.

We are always proud to bring you such a varied programme, to be a home for world-class theatre and music; this season is no different. Experience the exciting new musical No Horizon, a whole month of comedy in the return of April Fools Fest, the first New Work Weekend of the year, and the usual exciting mix perfect for all ages. As part of the continuing #OURNORTH season, our exhibition spaces will highlight home-grown and local talent as we continue our focus on Yorkshire and its emergence as a cultural capital, with a creative output to rival the south.
