A unique mix of comedy, melody, poetry and best-matery in new show at The Civic

Rap-Jazz-Comedy Duo Harry & Chris Bring Their Brand New Show to Barnsley

"[Harry Baker’s] intricate, quick-fire rhymes have always been on the impressive side of mind-blowing, but in a new and unexpected departure, he’s teamed up with the honey-toned singer and jazz guitarist Chris to create a bewitching new sound" The Scotsman

Following their second Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Leicester Comedy Festival Award nominated duo Harry and Chris will come to Barnsley this November with the brand new and aptly-titled Harry and Chris Show 2.

Championing unadulterated fun in an increasingly down trodden world, the pair will perform renditions on topics including the delights of time travel, robot wars and the survival of the panda bear in their second hour of tightly-written, fast-paced and tongue-in-cheek lyrics set to be rapped over soulful melodies.

World Poetry Slam champion, Performance poet (and maths student) Harry Baker’s poem about prime numbers has been shared on TED.com and has been translated into 20 different languages with a combined viewership of 3 million along with his other 4 TEDx talks.

Harry’s blistering wordplay (Three Weeks) has seen him coined as ‘a champion’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘a show stealer’ by Scroobius Pip and Scott Mills described a performance on his BBC Radio 1 show as ‘the greatest thing I’ve ever seen’.

Acclaimed musician Chris Read (’Brilliant’ Evening Standard) is an ‘up-and-coming talent’ (All About Jazz) on the UK jazz scene and performs regularly around the country

"This Flight of the Conchords-esque duo mix their talents as a poet (Harry) and musician (Chris) into a wonderful blend of infectious songs packed with sharp, clever wordplay" Sunday Post

Harry and Chris join an exceptional comedy line up at The Civic this year including sold out shows with Henning When and Dave Spikey.

In November The Civic will also welcome James Acaster on his first ever book tour, Classic Scrapes. The show will be filled with a collection of self-deprecating anecdotes about awful and stupid experiences that James has managed to get himself into.

The Harry and Chris Show 2 is at The Civic on Friday 3 November at 8:00pm. Tickets are £12.

James Acaster will be at The Civic on Saturday 11 November at 8:00pm. Tickets £16
