Adele Howitt: Ceramic Landscapes
Adele Howitt: Ceramic Landscape
29 JUL – 21 OCT
Inspired by the anatomy of plants and a new perspective on her natural landscape, artist Adele Howitt presents a collection of large ceramics - intricate, seemingly delicate, yet robust.
While resident artist at Naturalia in Sevilla, Spain (2012), Howitt developed an interest in pollen grains and a new understanding of the natural world around her. At the same time she also rediscovered her pottery skills, and began pushing the craft to exciting new limits. Combining this research with influences from the countryside and coast near her Humber home, Howitt has utilised her a strong technical skills to craft these beautiful and unique ceramic objects.
Complimented by film and sketches, the exhibition offers a fresh insight into the creative drive and working method of an accomplished ceramicist.
Howitt has previously exhibited across Europe, including the Steninge Slott Cultural Centre in Sweden, VI Biennal de Ceramica del Vendrell in Barcelona, Spain, the Ceramica Multiplex at Kerameikon, Croatia, and various RHS Gardens including the Chelsea Flower Show.
