Design

Featuring a diverse range of creative workspace units, The Civic offers a range of business facilities that have been tailored to meet the needs of the creative industries. Inside the building there are a range of individual units which vary in size from 301 to 1,067 sq ft (28 to 100 sq m).

Arts

At the heart of The Civic is a new purpose-built assembly room. Featuring a sprung wooden floor, along with PA and lighting systems, this flexible space is suitable for a wide variety of uses, ranging from performances such as dance, drama and music to corporate events, private functions and even weddings.

Retail

There is over 22,000 sq ft (2,000 sq m) of prime retail space inside The Civic, bringing a unique shopping experience into the heart of Barnsley’s town centre and offering a chic, stylish environment for innovative and inspirational retailers – and shoppers alike.

Exhibition

Designed to help support some of the Borough’s most promising contemporary visual art talents, the exhibition space inside The Civic can host all forms of media. Commanding dramatic views over the refurbished Mandela Gardens, the exhibition space provides 3,229 sq ft (300 sq m) of display and will host a rolling programme of exhibitions throughout the year, complementing the programme of events in the assembly room.
